So having in a long tube set headers will increase your power but as heat build up inside the engine bay your ECU will cut back the power. The good part is that this will save your engine, but the down side is this will cut the power too. This is to save the engine from detonating, which is absolutely bad. Our car like all the cars today have knock sensors, so if the engine was to get too hot the computer will sense it, and retard the timing. The header does come with an extension for the EGR but I don't know why? Looks like the same flange connection but in a different place. The Jag has the connection up high and the headers have it down closer to the collector. Will they add any power? As far as fit the EGR tube is definitely needing modification. Since the engine in the Galaxie was a Thunderbird engine, I also tried looking thru some forums of Thunderbird car owners and found there to be some additional numbers that they stated as factory, but I was also unable to identify those in the Ford Master Catalog. When I did a random internet search by typing in the car type, year and engine, i get the same numbers from several sellers, but when I go to my Ford Car Master Parts and Accessory Catalog I get C5SZ 9430-A for the (RH) and C3AZ 9431-D for the (LH). I have taken some photos of the current manifolds and they appear to be C3SE 9431B (LH) and C3SE 9430B (RH). I have a 1964 Ford Galaxie XL 500 with a Z code 390 engine. I seem to be having a much harder time than I ever imagined trying to find the right exhaust manifold for my car and would appreciate any advice or thoughts that the group may have.
